If you get serious injury, see the doctor immediately. However, if you got milder injuries, you can treat it with RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.
Rest means immobilizing the injured area and keeping your weightoff it until pain and swelling diminish. (If they do not diminish within a few days, see a doctor). Minor muscle and connective-tissue injuries do not require complete inactivity; just cut back your exercise level until the pain goes away.

Ice an injury several times a day for 15 to 20 minutes at a time in the first 48 hours after you sustain the injury to reduce pain and swelling. Rub ice on the skin for injuries close to the surface; use an ice pack for joint or deep-muscle pain.
Compression usually means wrapping an injured area in an elastic bandage to slow the buildup of fluids that cause swelling. The bandage should be snug, but not tight enough to impede circulation. Unwrap the bandage every half hour to allow blood to circulate freely. Keep the area compressed for the first 2 to 3 hours until pain and swelling have decreased significantly.
Elevating an injured area keeps it from being engorged with blood and fluids. This will keep swelling down, especially in the leg and foot, by utilizing gravity to drain fluids.
